“St. Barnabas is nothing short of amazing. We moved to the island a little over a year ago from Texas. I had a wonderful, loving preschool in Texas and wanted to find the same atmosphere on Bainbridge Island. After searching and trying some options, another parent told me about St. Barnabas. After going to observe for a couple of hours, I left with a warm heart. I enrolled my son, Kaiden, to the Pre-K program. There has not been a second that I have regretted my decision. The teachers, Kristi and Millie, have such a great chemistry in the classroom. Their experience shows with each new day. The school had provided our family with everything we wanted for our son. It was important to have a safe and loving place, strong academics, a good social network, and experienced teachers. We will forever be thankful for St. Barnabas. My only regret is that we didn’t go there sooner.” – Cori and Shane Smith

“After my oldest son completed two years at St. Barnabas, I didn’t even consider another pre-school or pre-K program when it came time for my youngest to start his schooling. The first time around, the teachers were absolutely wonderful – the perfect combination of caring discipline and inspirational teaching needed to inspire young learners and support proper social development. In addition, the same teachers were still teaching 5 years later when it came time for my youngest to start school – a remarkable fact which exemplifies the stable and supportive learning environment at “St. B”. Both of my sons were more than prepared to start Kindergarten – it makes that first year of “full-time” school an easy and fun transition.” – Claire Younker Moe

“St. Barnabas embodies a warm and educational environment with emphasis on a multi-sensory approach to teaching. Learning was well crafted and disguised in PLAY. All learning should be this fun.” – Amy Muma

“We really love St. Barnabas Day School! We have three children and our two older ones have gone through the preschool and pre-K programs, and we are looking forward to sending our third when she is old enough. The teachers are warm and caring people who make the environment so friendly and welcoming that our kids have always rushed to get ready on school mornings and are excited to go (which says a lot since they are not like that for any other activity). Our oldest is at Blakely and her transition to Kindergarten from St. Barnabas was very smooth. The Pre-K teachers have developed a relationship with the Kindergarten teachers on the island to make sure what they are covering is the best way to send them off to Kindergarten. Additionally, the preschool program has just the right level of activities for that age, and I really appreciate the emphasis on being a good friend and good manners. Our son “graduates” this year and we are going to miss the school next year when we have no children there after 4 straight years. We feel very lucky to have found a school for our children that lets them be kids, play, and make learning so fun.” – Sarah and Larry Barrett

“We have been so pleased with the school, but especially the teaching staff. Teachers Kristi and Millie have worked wonders with my shy 3-year-old. I thought she would never start school without me in class! But, the summer camp leading up to school provided a seamless transition, as well as the caring and support that Kristi and Millie provided her. They taught her that school and learning is an upbeat and fun process. She didn’t miss a day and she is no longer a shy 3-year-old but a confident 4-year-old in Pre-K.” – Michelle Byron

“Saint Barnabas Day School has been a beloved island institution for years. Before I even had my girls, people highly recommended the school to me based on their own children’s positive experiences there. I really appreciate the nurturing, creative and play filled environment St. Barnabas Day School provides for my preschooler. Teachers Kristi, Mary and Millie do a fantastic job helping kids adjust socially and emotionally for the transition to kindergarten. They are warm, loving individuals who are very in tune to our community and what the expectations are for our little ones once they enter elementary school. I could not ask for a better “team” to help my daughter prepare for the next step.” – Shannon Dow

“Our family has spent a total of 8 years at St. Barnabas. The teachers are warm and compassionate with the kids in their first introduction to school. They do a fantastic job of working with the individual personalities of each child. My children loved learning in the nurturing environment provided. The teachers were patient and kind in helping the children work on social skills as they interacted with classmates. Finally, they were well prepared and enthusiastic to enter Kindergarten. We will miss the teachers dearly. They have given our children a fantastic start with their education.” – Kelly Thompson
