Programs & Tuition
Each St. Barnabas Day School program is designed to encourage the creation and development of life-long learners. We provide an environment that enables each child to maximize his or her unique abilities. Every day in our classrooms, children learn through play as they develop:
- Self-Awareness/Self-Esteem
- Expressive Language
- Problem Solving Skills
- Social Skills and Friendships
- Listening skills
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills
- Imagination and Creativity
- Kindergarten Readiness
Our interactive curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child, providing a wide range of opportunities for emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and spiritual growth. The program incorporates music, creative and dramatic plays, language and literature, art, cooking, math, science and outdoor play. Our goal is to give every child multiple ways to learn and frequent opportunities to build on his or her natural strengths.
At St. Barnabas Day School we use the WaKIDS GOLD Learning Objectives to guide our curriculum and teaching practices. Each child’s individual milestones are documented in a personal portfolio that follows them through their entire time with us. We host twice annual goal-setting conferences with parents to connect about goals and successes along the way, making sure we are meeting the needs of each individual child.
Preschool (2 1/2 to 4):
Teachers Debra and Karey guide the children through an organized and fun-filled three hours of circle time, free play, art and outdoor playtime, along with a variety of other activities. Preschool concepts such as colors, shapes, seasons, calendar terms and holidays are integrated into the materials and activities offered to the children. Preschool runs for three hours, three days a week; and includes a snack time. The maximum class size is 12.
Pre-Kindergarten (4 to 5) :
Teachers Debra and Julia lead the children through an organized and fun-filled four hours of circle time, kindergarten-readiness activities, free play, art and outdoor playtime. Children are introduced to the letters of the alphabet, writing their own names and counting in a multi-disciplinary, fun and pressure-free fashion throughout the year. This helps build confidence, and along with the social skills that are developed during each session, contributes to SBDS’s excellent reputation for sending well-prepared students on to kindergarten. Pre-K runs for four hours, three days a week; and includes a lunch time. The maximum class size is 14.

*State law requires that children must be 30 months old to attend Preschool. If your child is not 30-months old by August 31st, we may be able to hold a spot for them to start in Preschool mid-year. This availability is based on their birthdate and class enrollment. Please contact us to inquire about options for your individual child.
**While our goal is that children are independent at pottying before they start with us at SBDS; we know accidents happen at any age, especially when transitioning to a new routine at the start of the year. We will work with individual families to make sure their children feel confident and successful at school.
